You reached your goal weight and your face looks tired. Two things changed, volume and the surface, and UltraClear at Cannelle in Oxford answers the surface while Dr Mattia plans the rest.
You reached the weight you were aiming for, and your face seems to have arrived somewhere else. People tell you that you look tired rather than lighter, and the photographs agree with them. Two separate things have happened, and only one of them is about volume.
The first is volume, the softness that used to sit high on the cheek and across the temple. The second is the surface itself, which has turned finer and more creased than it was a year ago. Creams sit on top of both without reaching either, which is why the mirror has stopped answering back.
UltraClear at Cannelle Skin Clinic in Oxford answers the surface half of that. It is a 2910 nanometre cold fibre laser that resurfaces through thousands of microscopic channels, lifting away the worn surface so your own healing rebuilds the collagen beneath.
Dr Mattia Parducci (GMC 7635663) performs every session himself. Our sister clinic in London, Dr Joney De Souza Skin & Laser, has seen him through more than 100 of these laser treatments. He treats at both clinics, and in Oxford he performs your session from the first pass to the last.
The pattern is familiar in every clinic in the country this year. UCL reported in January 2026 that 1.6 million UK adults had used weight loss injections in a single year, far more of them paying privately than receiving them on the NHS. The phrase that has attached itself to the change is Ozempic face, and those two words cover two very different problems.
Volume loss is the half everyone recognises. The cheek flattens, the light stops catching where it used to, and the lower face reads as heavier than it is. That change is real, and it has its own answer, which is not a laser.
The surface change is quieter and harder to name in a mirror. Skin that used to sit smoothly now gathers into fine lines around the mouth, and the texture across the cheek reads as crepey in daylight. It is the half people describe as looking tired, and it is the half that resurfacing was built for.
Somebody who has worked hard for a year should not have to guess what changed. Naming the two halves properly is what makes them treatable, and that is where a consultation starts. Volume sits deep in the face, the surface sits at the top, and each is answered in its own layer.
What sets a cold fibre laser apart is where its energy ends up. About 95 percent of each pulse lifts away damaged tissue, and only about 5 percent is left as warmth. That warmth stays inside its own microscopic channel rather than spreading into the skin beside it. Healing is shorter for it, and a far wider range of skin tones can be treated safely.
For the fine lines and crepey texture that follow fast weight loss, Dr Mattia usually works at the UltraClear depth. It reaches the mid dermis, where fine lines, uneven texture, deeper sun damage and open pores all live. Plan for three to seven days of flushing and flaking while the new surface arrives. Two or three sessions, three to four months apart, is the usual plan.
Where the skin is mainly dull rather than lined, 3DMIRACL is the lighter answer. It takes ten to fifteen minutes, needs no topical numbing, and leaves a warmth like mild sunburn that settles within hours.
Sunscreen and a gentle moisturiser are the whole routine, with nothing active for 48 hours. There is no formal downtime, and most people keep it to a monthly rhythm while the brightness builds. It fits around a working week without anyone needing to know.
The same pass does more than soften the lines. Sun damage that has gathered for years lifts as the surface renews, and tone evens out with it. Open pores across the cheek tighten as the new collagen settles. Skin starts catching the light again rather than absorbing it.
The first real change after the depth shows once healing has finished, and then it keeps coming. For three to six months afterwards the collagen under that new surface is still reorganising, and texture, tone and firmness improve with it. Dr Mattia asks you to judge your skin at three months rather than at three weeks.

UltraClear does not restore lost volume. It works on the surface and on the collagen directly beneath that surface, which is one layer of a face rather than all of it. Rebuilding the softness that has gone from the cheek belongs to biostimulators and fillers, a different layer and a different appointment.
Dr Mattia plans that half from the same consultation, which is the advantage of a doctor who treats the whole face. Sculptra and Profhilo each have a page setting out how they work and who they suit. Our facial volume loss page describes the change itself. Treating one layer and ignoring the other is how a face ends up smooth and still tired.

The order matters, and it is not a decision to make from a website. Dr Mattia looks at your skin with VISIA skin imaging at the consultation, which shows the texture and sun damage sitting below what a mirror reveals. From there he tells you which half is doing more to your face.
Some faces are treated for volume first, some for the surface first, and some in a sequence across a year. What decides it is what he sees rather than what you arrived asking for. If another treatment would do more for your face, he says so and explains why.
Nothing is sold to you in that appointment either. If your skin would do better with a lighter pass and a longer run of them, he says so. If the volume half matters more than the surface half this year, he says that too. You leave with an order of treatment and a reason for it.
Timing is the other thing people worry about. Skin that has changed quickly is still skin, and he treats what is in front of him on the day. Bringing a photograph from a couple of years ago helps more than most people expect, because it shows him what the light used to do.
A consultation comes first, and the whole plan follows from what he finds in it. You talk through what has changed, what you notice in photographs, and what you would most like back. Dr Mattia examines your skin in good light, adds the VISIA imaging, and sets a plan that covers both halves rather than the easier one.
Deeper skin tones are patch tested first, on a small and discreet area. The first full session then waits at least 24 hours, so your skin is already understood when it is treated. Aftercare is written down for you, from barrier cream and gentle cleansing to the date your retinoids and acids come back.
There are questions too, and they are quick. Recent isotretinoin, any medication that makes skin more sensitive to light, a tan or a holiday coming up, cold sores, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and how your skin has scarred in the past. After rapid weight loss he also wants to know whether your weight has now settled, because a stable face is easier to plan for.
On average the UltraClear depth takes two or three sessions, and 3DMIRACL runs as a monthly rhythm. The consultation replaces those averages with numbers that belong to your face. You leave knowing which half of your face is treated first and when to judge the result.
Cannelle is the only Oxford clinic where UltraClear is performed by a doctor who has already performed more than a hundred of these treatments, and our Summertown rooms draw patients from Witney, Abingdon and Woodstock, and from across Oxfordshire. If the face in your photographs has stopped matching the one you expected, come and talk it through with the doctor who treats both halves. Have a look at the before and after gallery, then get in touch to start with a consultation.
The doctor who performs every UltraClear session at Cannelle, filmed treating with the same laser at our sister clinic in London, Dr Joney De Souza Skin & Laser. Watch how the handpiece moves, how calm the skin stays, and how little fuss the whole thing involves.
If your face has changed faster than the rest of you, come and have both halves looked at properly. Book a consultation with Dr Mattia at our Summertown clinic, message us on WhatsApp or call 01865 537885, and bring the old photographs with you.

These are the questions we hear most from people whose faces changed faster than they expected. Anything else on your mind is a good question to bring to your consultation.
It is the phrase people use for the way a face changes after fast weight loss on weight loss injections. Two things happen at once. Volume goes from the cheek and temple, so the light stops catching where it used to, and the surface turns finer and more creased. They are different problems in different layers, and each has its own answer.
No, and it is better to say so plainly. UltraClear works on the surface and on the collagen directly beneath it, which is why it suits crepey texture and fine lines so well. Rebuilding lost softness in the cheek is the job of biostimulators and fillers. Dr Mattia plans both halves from the same consultation, in the order your face needs.
It resurfaces through thousands of microscopic channels, lifting away the worn surface and letting your own healing rebuild the collagen underneath. For fine lines and crepey texture Dr Mattia usually works at the UltraClear depth, which reaches the mid dermis. Texture, tone and firmness keep improving for three to six months as that new collagen reorganises.
The UltraClear depth is usually two or three sessions, three to four months apart. 3DMIRACL, the lightest pass, runs as a monthly rhythm rather than a course, with brightness building visit by visit. Those are averages across a lot of different faces, and your own plan is settled once Dr Mattia has seen yours.
The concern you bring decides the treatment, and the healing comes attached to it. 3DMIRACL leaves a warmth like mild sunburn that settles within hours, and there is no formal downtime. The UltraClear depth brings three to seven days of flushing and flaking while the new surface arrives. Laser Coring, the deepest treatment, heals across seven to fourteen days.
Yes, and most faces after significant weight loss need both. Dr Mattia sets the whole plan at one consultation, deciding which layer to treat first and how far apart the appointments sit. Having one doctor hold both halves means the surface work and the volume work are timed to suit each other rather than booked separately.
Dr Mattia Parducci (GMC 7635663), our Lead Aesthetic Doctor, performs every session from start to finish. He brought more than 100 of these laser treatments with him from our sister clinic in London, Dr Joney De Souza Skin & Laser. He also sets the plan at your consultation, with VISIA skin imaging, before anything is switched on.
There is no fixed point on the scale that makes it the right week. Dr Mattia assesses the skin in front of him on the day, then tells you what it needs and in which order. Bringing a photograph from a couple of years ago is genuinely useful, because it shows him where the light used to fall on your face.
After 3DMIRACL the brightness arrives within days. After the UltraClear depth the change waits for the flaking to finish, and it builds steadily from there. Texture, tone and firmness go on improving for three to six months while collagen reorganises beneath the new surface. Dr Mattia asks you to judge your skin at three months.
It is designed to work across all six Fitzpatrick skin types, because so little heat spreads into the skin around each microscopic channel. Dr Mattia patch-tests deeper tones on a small, discreet area and waits at least 24 hours before your first full session. Your settings then come from what your own skin did rather than from an assumption.
