You want to know whose hands the laser is in. At Cannelle in Oxford the answer is Dr Mattia Parducci, who performs every UltraClear session himself and arrives with more than 100 already done.

The Doctor Who Brought His Laser Home

You have made up your mind about the laser. The question you have not settled is quieter, and it is the one that matters most. Who will be holding it? At Cannelle Skin Clinic in Oxford the answer is Dr Mattia Parducci (GMC 7635663), and he performs every UltraClear session himself.

Dr Mattia is Cannelle’s Lead Aesthetic Doctor, and he divides his weeks between Summertown and London. At our sister clinic, Dr Joney De Souza Skin & Laser, he has performed more than 100 of these laser treatments. The experience and the device have arrived in Oxford together.

The laser he brought is a cold fibre, and the story of it is in where the energy goes. UltraClear works at 2910 nanometres, lifting away damaged skin through thousands of microscopic channels. About 95 percent of each pulse removes tissue and only about 5 percent lingers as warmth. That warmth stays inside its own channel, so the skin beside it stays calm and starts healing the same evening.

The Laser That Had Only Ever Been in London

Thirty-three clinics run UltraClear across the UK, and around twenty of them are in London. Until this autumn, Oxford patients travelled to London for it. An Oxford patient who wanted this particular laser had a train to catch first. Most people quietly decided against it.

The timing suits the city. Summer 2026 is provisionally the hottest the UK has recorded. Ipsos research for Cancer Research UK found that 43 percent of British adults were sunburnt in the past year. Plenty of faces are carrying more sun damage than they were in spring. A laser that resurfaces in days rather than a fortnight is a welcome answer to that.

Cannelle is the only clinic in Oxford where it is performed by a doctor who arrives with more than a hundred treatments already done. The beauty press had already noticed the device. Harper’s Bazaar called cold lasers the hottest new skin treatment in June 2026. It is a pleasing line about a laser whose whole point is how little heat it leaves behind. NewBeauty gave UltraClear a 2026 Beauty Award for Best Laser Treatment for All Skin Tones.

None of that is what persuaded Dr Mattia. He had performed more than a hundred of these treatments in London by then, and had watched the skin heal after every one. Laser Coring, the deepest of the three UltraClear treatments, was presented at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting in March 2026. What he saw at his own follow-up appointments told him the same thing.

The machine itself has pedigree. Acclaro Medical, its American maker, holds the field to itself with the only 2910 nanometre cold fibre laser, FDA clearance that widened in 2024 to pigmented lesions and vascular redness, and NewBeauty’s 2026 award in the category Best Laser Treatment for All Skin Tones. The names in its clinical library are the dermatologists whose work fills the American Academy of Dermatology programme, and Dr Mattia trained on the same protocols.

Why the Hand on the Handpiece Matters

A laser is a medical device, and the setting chosen for your skin is a medical decision. A June 2026 analysis in the British Journal of Dermatology looked at reported laser injuries and found that two thirds were burns. Most of those traced back to device malfunction or to user error rather than to the technology itself.

That is a finding about people and process, and it is the clearest argument for a doctor-led clinic. Dr Mattia performs every UltraClear session at Cannelle from start to finish. He chooses the settings for your skin, carries out the treatment and sees you again while it heals. Nothing is handed on between your consultation and your result.

The same care is what opens the treatment up. UltraClear is designed for Fitzpatrick I to VI, because so little heat travels beyond each channel. Dr Mattia patch-tests deeper skin tones on a small, discreet area and waits at least 24 hours before the first full session. Patients who were told years ago that resurfacing was not for them are the ones he most enjoys treating.

Aftercare is part of the treatment rather than an afterthought. After the lightest pass it is sunscreen every day, a gentle moisturiser and nothing active for 48 hours. After the deeper treatments you go home with a written routine of barrier cream and gentle cleansing. It sets out no heat, exercise or swimming until healed, and the date your retinoids and acids come back.

What More Than a Hundred Treatments Teach a Doctor

The first thing all those treatments give a doctor is a sense of proportion. He knows what a face looks like on day two, on day four and on the morning it turns the corner. He can tell you in advance, so you spend the healing week expecting what you see rather than worrying about it.

The second thing is the habit of reading skin rather than reading the request. People arrive asking for the treatment a friend had, and Dr Mattia listens to that and then looks properly. He works out what is actually sitting in the skin, at what depth, and which of the three treatments answers it.

He brings the same judgement to the other laser in the building. Dr Mattia sets every PicoSure plan at Cannelle and the settings that go with it, and PicoSure clears pigment and ink rather than resurfacing. Somebody with sun damage across the cheeks and a scattering of brown marks can have both planned in one conversation with one doctor.

“Two people can point at the same line and need different treatments. What you ask for tells me what bothers you. Your skin tells me where it sits. The skill is in choosing the depth and density that reach it. That judgement is what more than a hundred treatments teach.”
Dr Mattia Parducci

Plenty of those hundred faces were men. Sun damage from a life outdoors, acne scarring that has followed someone since university, and a distinct wish not to look treated are as common in Summertown as anywhere, and the laser does not distinguish.

One Laser, Three Treatments, Three Recoveries

UltraClear is a single device with three distinct treatments, and the concern decides which one you have. Dull tone and early sun damage take 3DMIRACL, the lightest pass, ten to fifteen minutes with no formal downtime. Fine lines, texture and deeper sun damage take the UltraClear depth, which reaches the mid dermis. That one asks for three to seven days of flushing and flaking.

Established acne scarring takes Laser Coring, the deepest of the three. It removes micro-columns of tissue outright under topical numbing, so there is pinpoint bleeding on the day and seven to fourteen days of healing. Dr Mattia matches the treatment to the skin in front of him, which is why every plan starts with a consultation.

Brightness shows within days after the lightest pass. After the deeper treatments the first real change arrives once healing finishes, and then it keeps coming. Texture, tone and firmness improve for three to six months as collagen reorganises beneath the new surface, so he asks you to judge the result at three months. The before and after gallery shows what that looks like.

What Your First Appointment Looks Like

Your first visit is a consultation, and Dr Mattia takes it himself. He examines your skin in good light and with VISIA skin imaging, which reveals the sun damage and texture sitting below what a bathroom mirror shows. You talk through what you would most like to change, and he tells you which of the three treatments answers it.

The questions he asks are ordinary and he asks all of them. Recent isotretinoin, a tan, cold sores, pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection, and how your skin has scarred before. It is the unglamorous part of a hundred treatments, and it is the part that makes the next hundred safe.

If another treatment would suit your face better, he says so honestly and explains why. Where a mark needs a dermatologist’s eye or a histology report, the clinic arranges that referral for you. You leave knowing what is being treated, how long healing takes and the date on which to judge the result.

As a guide, the lightest pass runs on a monthly rhythm, the UltraClear depth takes two or three sessions, and Laser Coring one to three. At the consultation those guides become a plan with your name on it. Read more about him on his profile page, or look through the UltraClear treatment page before you come in.

The clinic sits in Summertown, welcoming patients from across Oxfordshire, and patients reach it from Jericho, Headington and Kidlington without a train ticket. If you have been putting resurfacing off because you did not know whose hands it would be in, that question now has a name attached to it. Get in touch and we will find you a time with Dr Mattia.

Questions About Dr Mattia and UltraClear

These are the questions people ask once they know a new laser has arrived in the city, from who performs it to how far it reaches. Anything we have missed, Dr Mattia will answer at your consultation.

Who performs UltraClear at Cannelle Skin Clinic?

Cannelle’s Lead Aesthetic Doctor, Dr Mattia Parducci (GMC 7635663), performs every UltraClear session himself from start to finish. He chooses the settings for your skin, carries out the treatment and sees you again while it heals. He has already performed more than 100 of these laser treatments at our sister clinic in London, Dr Joney De Souza Skin and Laser.

How many UK clinics have the UltraClear laser?

Thirty-three clinics run UltraClear across the UK, and around twenty of those sit in London. Cannelle in Summertown is the only clinic in Oxford where an experienced doctor performs it, and until this autumn patients here had to travel to the capital for it at all. Dr Mattia treats at both Cannelle and our London sister clinic, so the same hands run both rooms.

What is UltraClear and how does it work?

UltraClear is a 2910 nm cold fibre laser that resurfaces skin through thousands of microscopic channels. It lifts away the damaged surface and lets your own healing rebuild collagen beneath it. About 95 percent of each pulse removes tissue and about 5 percent becomes heat, which stays inside the channel rather than spreading into the skin around it.

Does it really matter who operates a laser?

It matters a great deal. A June 2026 analysis in the British Journal of Dermatology looked at reported laser injuries and found that two thirds were burns, most of them traced to device malfunction or to user error rather than to the technology. Dr Mattia performs every UltraClear session at Cannelle himself and sets each patient’s settings personally.

Can UltraClear be used on darker skin tones?

Yes, it is designed for all six Fitzpatrick skin types, because so little heat travels beyond each microscopic channel. Dr Mattia patch-tests deeper skin tones on a small, discreet area and waits at least 24 hours before your first full session. That is how people who were told lasers were not for them finally have their skin resurfaced.

Which UltraClear treatment will Dr Mattia recommend for me?

Your skin decides rather than your diary. Dull tone and early sun damage call for 3DMIRACL, the lightest pass. Fine lines, texture and deeper sun damage call for the UltraClear depth. Established acne scarring calls for Laser Coring. Each reaches a different depth and carries its own recovery, and Dr Mattia matches the treatment to what he finds at your consultation.

Does Dr Mattia set PicoSure plans as well?

He does. Dr Mattia sets every PicoSure plan at Cannelle and the settings that go with it, and that laser clears pigment and tattoo ink rather than resurfacing the skin. Somebody with sun damage and stubborn brown marks can have both treatments planned in one conversation. The PicoSure page sets out what it treats.

How soon will I see a result from UltraClear?

Brightness shows within days of the lightest pass and builds with each monthly visit. After the deeper treatments the first real change arrives once healing has finished, and then it keeps developing. Texture, tone and firmness improve for three to six months as collagen reorganises beneath the new surface, so Dr Mattia asks you to judge the result at three months.

Does Dr Mattia treat in Oxford or in London?

Both. He divides his weeks between Cannelle Skin Clinic in Summertown and our sister clinic in London, Dr Joney De Souza Skin and Laser, where he performed his first hundred UltraClear treatments. Oxford patients now see the same doctor, the same laser and the same judgement without the train fare or the day away from work.

How do I book a consultation with Dr Mattia?

Call the clinic on 01865 511960, message us on WhatsApp or get in touch through the website, and we will find you a time that suits. Your first appointment is a consultation with Dr Mattia, including VISIA skin imaging, and he plans your treatment from there. A patch test comes first for deeper skin tones.
